FPS Moving the industry forward

It's clear that in the past few years the gaming world has seen a real explosion of various first person shooters. On one hand, it increases the choice that players have in picking their games, but it also oversaturates the market and renders each new FPS a clone of the previous one. While naturally that is a serious problem, there are a few gems out there that are revolutionary even thought they all share the same basic premise.

Games like Crysis, Call of Duty Modern Warfare or Doom3 has really changed the industry and raised the bar for everyone else out there.

If nothing else, First Person Shooters have been seen as a benchmark for the newest and craziest graphics out there. It is FPS that always feature the next newest thing looking years in front of the competition in terms of playability and melting our graphics cards.

The way the camera works within those games allows the developers to be incredibly detailed and that leads to amazing experiences for us, gamers. If you think about it, COD wouldnt be COD without it being FPS.. after all, why wouldnt you want to see the terror and the chaos of the war from the point of view of the soldier?
