In regards to Modders the article "Postigo" says "Many of them already have some technical skill and modding is a way to explore more deeply their love of gaming." I completely agree with this statement, and i am truly intrigued by the art of Modding. When looking at Modders we see may them as an elite group of individuals that do something we could never do, however the article points out the fact that we do similar practices in our everyday life. Look at facebook twitter or even wikis, we take an active role in putting our own views and thoughts into these large media corporations. So should we look at Modding as any different?
Modding is a way for people to put their thoughts and views into a game, and in most cases these thoughts and views are not just shared by them, but also by other gamers. This is the reason that we see the popularity increase in these Modded games. I can think of a bunch of different games that i would have preferred to have played in a different way. Even just a small change would have made the biggest difference in me enjoying the gameplay, this is the reason that i like the idea of modding.
Overall i enjoy reading the article and learning about Modding. Being that i enjoy playing games its funny that i had never even heard of this or even knew that it existed. Now that i have a better understanding i look forward to learning more about what Modding has to offer.

ReplyDeleteI agree with that you preferred to play in different version. modded game is sometimes much funnier than the original version. Modding would be a great way to satisfy both game players, and game producers since it relies on the demands of players, and needs no money for it.
ReplyDeleteI totally agreew with you! I also think that sometimes little change can make a game so much more fun to a game player if they can make the change on their own. Just like youtube and facebook, people nowadays like to be "themselves" online, therefore, modding game is a way to create their own identity online and it is not a bad thing at all.
ReplyDeleteModding is most definately a way for individuals to express themselves. Based on personal preference, a person may like the altered version better than the original. For example, I know a number of people that like Counter Strike better than Half Life...
ReplyDeleteCounter Strike was definitely more popular than Half Life, and People spent hours and hours on the mod more than the original.
